REMOVING THE TYRE
FROM THE RIM
Equipment required
Tyrepliers Bead Breaker, 2 x 600 mm Tyre
Levers, ground sheet and a rubber mallet [optional].
Breaking the bead
To break the bead all pressure in the
tyre must be released by removing the valve core. Then proceed as follows:
- Adjust Tyrepliers to the correct
rim size (tyre size as on the tyre wall).
- With the deflated wheel on a flat
surface, stand on the wheel and get your balance.
- Locate Tyrepliers across the centre
of the rim and apply pressure. With your foot (to locate the foot
of the tool); and
- With both hands on both of the tool
handles.
- Keeping the two handles together,
apply enough pressure to force the jaws in and under the rim.
Warning
Damage to the tyre wall may occur if full pressure is applied to the
long handle BEFORE the jaws are forced all the way under the rim and
onto the tyre bead
- Once the jaws are forced all the
way, keep outward pressure on the shorter handle, and operate the
long handle outward, thereby forcing the tyre away from the rim.
- Move the tool around the rim and repeal
the action until the bead pops.
- Turn the wheel over and repeat the
procedure as stated
above until the back bead pops.
Hint If you have difficulty in
forcing the jaws all the way in and under the rim - do not continue.
Hammer a tyre lever between the rim and the bead and force the jaws
of Tyrepliers ( in next to the lever).
